Football Game Day

Just A Friendly Reminder:

Team Entrance -- Tunnel with band. We will perform the school fight song before, but as soon as they enter, we need to get off the field

National Anthem -- Line Up facing the flag. After it ends, spirit then Kayla starts a chant (A-D-M, Let's Go Tigers, etc)

Kick Off -- Shoulder Stands

Kick Return -- We will discuss this at practice tomorrow!

Touchdown -- Spirit the crowd, watch the PAT, then school fight song (remember to prepare for kick off as soon as you're done with the fight song!)

1st Quarter -- NOTE THIS HAS CHANGED, the band director INSISTS on playing the fight song, so we will do that. If there is time after we will do that stomp thing.

3rd Quarter -- Stomp thing or something Coach Amanda or I can come up with!

End of Game -- Still working on this... we will also discuss this at practice tomorrow!

Hurt Player -- remember to go down on your right knee facing the field. Do not get up until the player has started to leave the field.

Turn Around -- For EVERY cheer, song, dance, whatever, you need to turn around towards your goal. (Remember this changes from quarter to quarter so please pay attention!)

Cheers/Chants -- A cheer/chant must be done every 90 seconds. Also jump at least once with each cheer/chant and spirit!

Girls you are doing awesome! I'm so proud of all of you! Keep up the great work. The season has only begun! =)

Practice

Thanks girls for another great practice!  All of the hard work this summer and at camp has really been paying off.  I am seeing so much improvement!  Thank you for your willingness to switch things up tonight, it is greatly appreciated.

A couple things for practice on Thursday:
1. Bring your poms (new ones please).
2. Meet in the commons, if the weather is nice, we will go outside.  Please let your rides know if you do not drive yourself so they know where to pick you up.
3. Our goal at practice on Thursday is to get as prepared for the game as possible!  We want to cheer on our team and wow the crowd!  Go over any chants or dances you don't know very well with someone who does so that we can spend time perfecting other things on Thursday.

I am really excited for our first game on Friday!

No Practice Monday or Tuesday

Hi Girls,

I just wanted to remind you that there is no practice this Monday or Tuesday.  Our last optional summer practice will be Thursday, July 8th.

Remember that orders for apparel are due July 15th and that all members of the squad need to purchase each item on the list.

Practice has been going so well and I want to thank all the girls that have made an effort to be there!  There are several girls with perfect attendance and that is really great!

To prevent injuries, remember to be lifting twice a week.  If you have any questions about what types of lifts you should be doing please ask me, Coach Lisa, or Doug Gee.

Check out the blog admcheer.blogspot.com for the schedule and any updates.  Camp is mandatory.  Practices beginning the week after camp will also be mandatory throughout the rest of the season.  Practices during the school year will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30PM- 7:30PM (subject to change with advanced warning.)

If there are any comments, questions, or discussion about absences, they will need to be submitted in writing to Coach Amanda.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

You Girls Rock!

Hey Girls,

Thanks again for another great practice!  I am so impressed with not only your abilities and talent, but your attitudes and willingness to get right in there!

Your hard work on stunts is really paying off, they look great!

Don't forget to be lifting twice a week.  It would be such a shame to get injured and not be able to perform all the stunts that we have been working on!

Don't forget orders and money are due July 15.

Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday!

2nd Practice

I am so excited about what we have been able to accomplish in just two practices!  Thank you to everyone who came last night.  I am so impressed with the positive attitudes and the willingness to get in there and try new things!  A special thank you to Rachel for stepping in there as a back spot for the night!  It was also great to see Alexandria and Bailey basing together, job well done for this being a new position for both of you!  Lexy and Aryn, you guys have been getting in there and doing such a great job!  All the stunt groups are working so well together.  Again, I am so excited about getting this base work done so that during the season we will be so far ahead!

Lets focus also on what Doug taught us yesterday.  Remember to weight-lift two times a week.  This is the number one way to prevent injuries!  After all this hard work stunting, the last thing we want to do is to loose someone to an injury that could have been prevented!  So grab a buddy and get in the weight room or just go over the stuff we learned with Doug yesterday!  If you need help Shyanne, Alexandria, Alec, Kaitlyn, and Rachel did a great job yesterday and I am sure they could show you a review of the moves.

Thank you again girls for your hard work this week!  See you on Thursday, 5:30 in the 10/12 commons!

Athletic Director, Doug Gee, will be at our practice Tuesday, June 22 to show all the girls how to lift properly.  Your attendance is STRONGLY encouraged!

Hope to see you all there!  Let's get our "lifting" on!  :)

Remember, stronger muscles equal higher jumps, sharper motions, and of course stronger stunts... You will be amazed at the improvement you can make if you work hard!

Letter to All Cheerleaders

This will also be sent out by mail and email:

To ADM HS Cheerleaders:

CONGRATULATIONS!  We are so excited to have you as a part of the 2010-2011 cheerleading squad!  We can’t wait to get started, so we wanted to get information to you as soon as possible on a preseason meeting, ordering gear, and our camp.

There is a preseason meeting for all student athletes and their parents Sunday, August 8th at 7PM in the North Gym.  During this meeting parents from all sports will get a chance to hear athletic director, Doug Gee, speak about ADM Athletics as a whole, and then individual sports will break off and go over information specific to them.  During this meeting, you will receive physical forms.  Remember that a current physical must be turned in before you can participate in any camps or practices.  If you do not have a form from the previous school year on file, please see Amanda before attending a summer practice.

Order forms are attached detailing what will need to be purchased for the upcoming school year.  Please fill out the information and follow the instructions on the form.

We will be hosting our own camp this year at the high school.  Camp will run Monday, August 2nd through Friday, August 6th from 8:00AM- 12:00PM each day.  During the camp, squads will participate in bonding activities, learn cheers, chants, and dances, and work on stunting.  Camp is mandatory, therefore it is very important that all squad members attend. Our attendance policy will be in effect.

Practice for Fall squads will begin on August 9th.  Exact times and places will be set by the end of July.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a part of the ADM HS Cheer Squad! We look forward to a great and successful season!

Feel free to contact us with any questions, and check out our blog www.admcheer.blogspot.com for more information!

Cheerleading Open Gyms:

Throughout the summer, we will be having several optional (yet STRONGLY encouraged) practices.  The purpose of these practices will be to get a head start on the season by focusing on staying in shape and to begin work on stunting and tumbling.  This is open to all of the squads, but highly recommended for the competition squad, as we would like to begin stunt sequences that will be used in our competition routine.

It is important to note that we will begin developing stunt groups early on in the summer and girls that are in attendance at practices will have priority.

The dates of the practices are as follows (these times and dates are subject to change, changes will be emailed and posted on the blog.):

· Monday June 21- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Tuesday June 22- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Thursday June 25- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Monday June 28- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Tuesday June 29- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Thursday July 1- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Tuesday July 6- 5:30PM- 7:30PM
· Thursday July 8- 5:30PM- 7:30PM

All Open Gyms will be held on the HS Track unless otherwise noted.

Weightlifting:

For the safety of all members on the squad, it is extremely important that each squad member begin weightlifting regularly over the summer.  Coaches are working on a program tailored specifically for cheerleaders and more information will be sent out with a time for a training session on how to weight lift properly.  There is a girls only weightlifting time at the high school every weekday from 9-10.  Girls should be going twice a week.  If this time does not work for you, please contact Amanda or Lisa.

Please know that our goal for weightlifting is not to create big muscles, but rather tone them instead. Weightlifting not only helps increase muscle strength and flexibility but also helps with stunting, posture, and metabolism. Also don’t forget, weight lifting will be mandatory once the school year begins!
